For many students, it’s not just about academic pressure. It’s the emotional load underneath it: perfectionism, fear of failure, comparison, loneliness, or the sense that everyone else seems to be coping better than you are.
At the core, many students come to therapy feeling like they’re barely holding it together... and wondering how long they can keep doing this.

From the outside, you might look like you’re managing. You show up to class, submit assignments, maybe even achieve good grades. But internally, a lot of students are struggling quietly.
Anxiety, burnout, and depression are increasingly common among post-secondary students. Many report feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or persistently stressed, especially during periods of transition, high workload, or uncertainty about the future.
There’s also a deeper layer that often goes unspoken: the pressure to succeed, to make the “right” life choices, to not disappoint others, and to somehow feel confident in a stage of life that is inherently uncertain.
The good news is that you don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable. Therapy can be a space to slow things down, understand what’s happening underneath the stress, and start to feel more grounded and supported in your day-to-day life.

Therapy for students is not about telling you how to manage your schedule or be more productive. It’s about helping you understand the emotional patterns that are driving your stress in the first place.
In our work together, we’ll slow things down enough to notice what’s actually happening beneath the surface (emotionally, relationally, and internally).
We might explore:
Rather than staying only in problem-solving mode, we’ll also gently build awareness of your emotional world, so you can start responding to yourself with more clarity and care.
Stress is often the surface-level experience, but underneath it, there’s usually something deeper happening. For some students, stress is tied to perfectionism and self-worth: “If I don’t succeed, I’m not enough.” For others, it’s rooted in fear and uncertainty: “If I don’t get this right, everything will fall apart.”
And for many, it connects to earlier experiences of pressure, criticism, or emotional responsibility.
Therapy helps you begin to untangle those layers. Not by pushing you harder, but by helping you understand why things feel so intense in the first place. When we address the emotional roots, things like anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm often begin to shift in a more lasting way.

I work from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) perspective, which means we focus on understanding the emotional patterns that shape how you experience yourself, others, and pressure.
Many of the students I work with are not just dealing with school stress, they’re also navigating long-standing patterns like perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, or emotional disconnection.
My role is to help you slow things down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin to build a more grounded
relationship with yourself.
Over time, I’ve seen students move from feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of themselves… to feeling more clear, steady, and connected to who they are and what they need.
This is one of the most common concerns for students. Therapy can actually create more clarity and emotional space, helping you feel less reactive and overwhelmed in your day-to-day life.
You don’t need to be in crisis to deserve support. If something is impacting your well-being, focus, relationships, or sense of self, it’s valid to talk about.
That’s okay. You don’t need to come in with a plan or clear agenda. Part of therapy is helping you make sense of what feels confusing or overwhelming.
