Grab your iced coffee and let's go for a walk!!
Walk & Talk therapy is a form of psychotherapy conducted while walking together in a natural outdoor setting: a local park, trail, or quiet pathway.
Rather than sitting across from each other in a traditional office, we walk side-by-side, which many clients find less formal, more freeing, and surprisingly easier to open up in.
Sessions follow the same therapeutic framework as in-person appointments, with the same professional boundaries, confidentiality, and clinical care - just with the addition of fresh air, gentle movement, and the grounding presence of nature.
Sessions are tailored to your comfort level. We can walk, pause, sit on a bench, or adjust the pace as needed.

Research supports what many already intuitively feel: walking outdoors reduces cortisol, boosts serotonin, and helps regulate the nervous system, creating an ideal state for deep, meaningful therapeutic work.
Eases anxiety
Rhythmic movement calms the nervous system and reduces anticipatory stress.
Lifts mood
Natural light and exercise naturally elevate dopamine and serotonin levels.
Reduces pressure
Walking side-by-side feels less confrontational than face-to-face sessions. For people who struggle with vulnerability, social anxiety, shame, or difficult family dynamics, this format can feel more relaxed and natural.
Nature as healer
Green spaces measurably reduce rumination and restore mental clarity.
Mind-body integration
Movement supports somatic awareness and helps process stored tension. Walking can help you notice physical sensations, emotions, and nervous system responses in real time, creating opportunities for deeper insight and self-understanding.
Better recall
Physical activity enhances memory consolidation and insight retention.

Walk & Talk can be a wonderful fit for a wide range of people and concerns. It may be especially helpful if you:
✓ Find traditional therapy settings uncomfortable
✓ Feel more comfortable moving than sitting still
✓ Enjoy spending time outdoors
✓ Are navigating a life transition
✓ Prefer an active, less structured approach
✓ Struggle with stress or burnout
✓ Want to build mindfulness in daily life
✓ Are working through grief or loss
✓ Are looking for a different approach to therapy

I’m a Guelph-based therapist who specializes in helping people who look "fine" from the outside but feel exhausted on the inside — the overthinkers, the people-pleasers, the ones who were always told they were "so mature" or "so easy" growing up. And sometimes, the best place to do that work isn't a quiet office, it's outside, moving, breathing, with the world around you.
My approach draws from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and nervous system regulation. In practice, that means we don't just talk about what's hard... we work with the parts of you that carry it, understand what they need, and help your whole system settle. The outdoor setting supports this naturally: your nervous system is already doing something different the moment we step outside.
Walk and Talk Therapy sessions take place at Exhibition Park in Guelph. The park offers a peaceful setting with paved pathways, green space, and plenty of opportunities for conversation while walking at a comfortable pace.
While every effort is made to protect your privacy, meeting outdoors means there is always a possibility of encountering other people. We will discuss confidentiality considerations before beginning Walk and Talk Therapy so you can make an informed decision.
We'll have a backup plan - either a sheltered outdoor space, a switch to a virtual or in-office session, or rescheduling. I'll always confirm with you beforehand if conditions are uncertain.
Not at all. We walk at whatever pace is comfortable for you. We can also be sure to choose a location with benches, and we can take as many breaks as needed. Please just let me know of any mobility considerations when booking.
Walk & Talk is appropriate for many concerns, though in-office or virtual sessions may be better suited for certain presentations (e.g. active crisis or trauma processing). We'll discuss what's right for you during your initial consultation
